Surgeon Membership Terms

Last updated: 28 August 2026 Effective from: 28 August 2026

1. About these terms

These terms apply to every plastic surgeon who applies for, receives or maintains a profile in the OWN YR LOOK directory, whether the profile is free, complimentary, upgraded or paid.

They also apply where a surgeon:

● uses an OYL member, verified-member or ambassador badge;

● receives patient enquiries through OYL;

● supplies material for publication;

● purchases an optional profile enhancement or promotional service; or

● authorises a practice manager, clinic, employee or agency to manage their profile.

OWN YR LOOK is operated by Annabelle Baugh, a sole trader trading as OWN YR LOOK (“OYL”, “we”, “us” or “our”). “Member”, “you” and “your” mean the surgeon named on the directory profile.

By submitting an application, approving a profile, using OYL membership branding or ordering a paid service, you agree to these terms and the policies incorporated into them, including OYL’s Membership Criteria, Directory Disclaimer and Verification Policy, Privacy Policy, Complaints and Corrections Policy, and Advertising and Affiliate Disclosure Policy.

2. Business relationship

OYL provides an independent patient-information and plastic-surgeon directory service. Membership is offered to you in connection with your professional practice and is a business-to-business arrangement.

Membership does not create an employment relationship, partnership, joint venture, clinical partnership, referral relationship or agency between you and OYL. You have no authority to bind OYL or make commitments on its behalf.

You remain solely responsible for your professional practice, including consultations, patient assessment, informed consent, clinical advice and decisions, treatment, fees, facilities, emergency arrangements, aftercare, revisions and compliance with applicable law and professional standards.

OYL is not a party to any agreement between you and a patient, clinic, hospital or other provider.

3. Eligibility

To qualify for and retain an OYL profile, you must meet OYL’s published criteria for each country in which OYL represents you as practising. Depending on the jurisdiction, this will normally require you to:

● hold current registration and any licence required by the relevant statutory medical regulator;

● be recognised as a specialist in plastic surgery where an applicable specialist register or recognised equivalent exists;

● hold any professional-association membership required by OYL’s country-specific criteria;

● practise within the scope permitted by your registration, specialist recognition and qualifications;

● perform surgery only in appropriately licensed, registered or accredited facilities;

● maintain appropriate professional insurance or indemnity;

● provide accurate, current and supportable information; and

● comply with relevant medical, advertising, privacy and consumer-protection requirements.

OYL may amend its eligibility criteria where reasonably necessary to reflect changes in regulation, professional standards, patient-safety evidence or the operation of the directory. Meeting a regulator’s or association’s requirements does not create an automatic entitlement to an OYL profile.

4. Evidence and verification

You must provide the information and evidence reasonably required for OYL to assess and periodically recheck your eligibility. OYL may check information against:

● statutory medical and specialist registers;

● recognised plastic-surgery association directories;

● official facility registers, accreditation records and regulatory notices;

● professional, hospital and clinic websites;

● documents and links supplied by you; and

● other reasonably reliable public sources.

OYL normally verifies professional identity by matching your name, registration number, specialist status and practice details against official and established professional sources. We may also request confirmation through a professional email address or video call.

OYL may request additional proof of identity where records conflict, an application is submitted by a representative, or there is a reasonable concern about impersonation or fraud. We will request only information reasonably necessary for that purpose and handle it in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

OYL may decline an application where the criteria are not met, information cannot be satisfactorily verified, required evidence is not supplied, information is materially inconsistent or misleading, or acceptance would create a material patient-safety, legal or directory-integrity concern.

Verification has the meaning and limitations set out in OYL’s Directory Disclaimer and Verification Policy. It is a snapshot of specified information available when checks are completed, not a continuing guarantee, clinical accreditation or personal recommendation.

5. Applications submitted by representatives

A practice manager, clinic employee, marketing agency or other representative may assist only with your authority. You remain responsible for reviewing and approving all information, ensuring its continuing accuracy and complying with these terms. OYL will require direct confirmation from you through an independently verified professional contact method before awarding OYL supporter status.

6. Profile approval and editorial control

All profiles are subject to OYL approval. OYL may edit submitted material for spelling, grammar, length, clarity, accessibility, consistency, formatting, house style or legal and regulatory compliance.

We will not knowingly change the clinical meaning of your content without consulting you where the change is material. OYL may refuse, qualify or remove wording, images, links or claims that are unsupported, misleading, unlawful, inconsistent with OYL standards or inappropriate for a patient-information platform.

OYL decides the standard format, categories, filters and non-paid ordering rules used by the directory. A profile will not become active until OYL has completed the checks it considers necessary and approved the profile.

7. Your responsibility for accuracy

You must ensure that all information supplied by you or your representative is accurate, complete, current, lawful and not misleading. This includes:

● your name, professional title, qualifications and registration numbers;

● specialist status and professional memberships;

● areas of practice, procedure experience and scope-of-practice claims;

● clinic and hospital affiliations;

● professional biography and contact information;

● prices, finance information and promotional offers;

● awards, rankings and other recognitions;

● patient images, testimonials and case studies; and

● statements concerning safety, outcomes, experience or comparative performance.

You must review your completed profile promptly after publication and notify OYL without delay of any error or omission. OYL’s review does not transfer responsibility for your claims to OYL.

8. Continuing disclosure obligations

You must notify OYL promptly, and must not wait for the next scheduled recheck, if any material change affects your eligibility, profile or professional practice. This includes:

● expiry, lapse, restriction, suspension or withdrawal of registration or a licence;

● removal from, or a change to, specialist status;

● loss, lapse, suspension or material change of a required professional membership;

● regulatory conditions, warnings, sanctions or disciplinary findings;

● a material investigation relevant to directory eligibility or patient safety;

● a relevant criminal charge, conviction or legal restriction;

● loss or material restriction of professional insurance or indemnity;

● a material change in country, place or scope of practice;

● closure, deregistration or loss of accreditation of a named facility; or

● any fact that makes, or could reasonably make, your profile materially inaccurate or misleading.

An investigation or allegation does not itself establish wrongdoing. OYL may nevertheless take proportionate interim action while reliable information is assessed.

9. Rechecking and cooperation

OYL aims to formally recheck active profiles every 3 months and may make additional checks at any time.

You must respond honestly and within the reasonable deadline stated in a request for clarification, updated evidence or profile approval. Failure to respond may result in information being removed or the profile being suspended until checks are completed.

10. Membership standards

You agree to support a patient-focused approach to cosmetic surgery. You must:

● communicate honestly about material risks, limitations and possible complications;

● avoid guaranteeing results or describing surgery as risk-free;

● avoid pressure selling, misleading urgency and irresponsible promotions;

● provide appropriate information and time for patients to make decisions;

● obtain valid informed consent;

● practise within your competence and lawful professional scope;

● provide clear information about aftercare, complications and revision arrangements;

● treat patients respectfully and without unlawful discrimination;

● comply with applicable professional and advertising rules; and

● cooperate with legitimate regulatory and patient-safety enquiries.

Your agreement is a professional commitment. OYL does not continuously monitor consultations, treatment, facilities or conduct and does not certify compliance in each case.

11. Permission to use profile material

You retain ownership of original material that you supply. You grant OYL a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, publish, format, crop, resize, make accessibility adjustments to, distribute and promote that material for the purposes of:

● reviewing and operating your profile;

● displaying you in relevant directory results;

● promoting your profile, OYL membership and the OYL directory; and

● creating reasonable extracts or previews for OYL’s website, email, press and social-media channels.

This permission covers your professional name, approved titles, headshot, biography, qualifications, clinic details, logos, interviews and clinical or other images supplied for publication.

The licence lasts while your profile or relevant content is active. After it ends, OYL may retain secure archival copies where reasonably necessary for legal compliance, record-keeping, complaints, fraud prevention or dispute resolution. Content already included in a lawful historic publication may remain in that publication where removal is not reasonably practicable, subject to applicable law.

You confirm that you own the material or have all necessary permissions to supply and license it; that publication will not infringe copyright, privacy, confidentiality, data-protection, trademark or other rights; and that you can provide evidence of those permissions if requested.

12. Patient photographs, clinical images and case studies

Before supplying identifiable or potentially identifiable patient material, you must have a valid lawful basis and any specific, informed and documented permission required for public promotional publication. Consent to treatment or use in clinical records does not automatically authorise directory or marketing publication.

You are responsible for ensuring that the patient has been told where and how the material may appear, that the website is publicly accessible, whether their identity may be apparent, and how they can raise a concern or withdraw consent where applicable.

Before-and-after images must be genuine and representative. They must not mislead through digital alteration, filters, materially different lighting, inconsistent positioning or camera angles, concealed timeframes, or omission of information needed to understand the result.

You must notify OYL promptly if permission is withdrawn or continued publication becomes inappropriate or unlawful. OYL may remove the material while the position is assessed.

13. Qualifications, training, awards and objective claims

You must hold adequate evidence for factual claims about qualifications, training, awards, procedure numbers, complication or success rates, rankings, exclusive techniques, comparative superiority and outcomes. OYL may request substantiation and refuse, qualify or remove claims that are unsupported or potentially misleading.

14. Advertising standards

Material submitted for a profile or promotion must comply with all applicable advertising and professional rules. You must not submit content that:

● guarantees an outcome or describes an intervention as risk-free;

● trivialises surgery or exploits body-image concerns, anxiety or vulnerability;

● creates irresponsible pressure or false urgency;

● uses misleading countdowns, scarcity or availability claims;

● targets cosmetic-intervention advertising at anyone under 18;

● makes unsubstantiated safety, superiority or outcome claims;

● presents exceptional outcomes as typical;

● omits a qualification necessary to prevent a misleading impression; or

● unlawfully advertises a prescription-only medicine to the public.

OYL may reject or remove content it reasonably considers unlawful, misleading, irresponsible or inconsistent with its patient-focused standards.

15. Free profiles

Eligibility and verification cannot be purchased. An eligible surgeon may receive a free profile containing the features described by OYL at that time.

A free profile does not guarantee any particular directory position, number of views, enquiries, consultations, bookings or revenue. OYL may change the format or included features of free profiles, giving reasonable notice where practicable.

16. Complimentary upgrades and ambassador status

OYL may offer a complimentary enhanced profile or ambassador status to selected eligible members. The same core eligibility and verification requirements apply.

Complimentary or ambassador status:

● cannot be purchased;

● does not establish superior verification, clinical skill or patient outcomes;

● does not prevent investigation, suspension or removal;

● may be withdrawn on reasonable notice, or immediately where urgent action is justified; and

● must not be described in a way that implies regulation, accreditation or a guarantee by OYL.

Where a complimentary benefit is connected with an endorsement or promotional post, the relationship must be disclosed where required.

17. Paid features and directory position

Eligible members may purchase optional enhancements described at the point of sale, which may include additional content, images, video, enhanced presentation, interviews, promotional opportunities or prominence within designated commercial areas.

Payment never purchases eligibility or verification and does not:

● provide a higher verification status;

● influence whether you meet OYL’s membership criteria;

● prove greater expertise, ethics, safety or quality;

● amount to an OYL clinical endorsement or personal recommendation;

● prevent OYL from investigating, amending, suspending or removing a profile; or

● guarantee traffic, enquiries, consultations, media coverage, patients or revenue.

If a payment affects position, prominence or presentation, the placement will be separated or clearly and prominently labelled as sponsored, promoted, featured or another appropriate commercial description.

18. Online orders and formation of the contract

Before an online order is submitted, OYL will make available the main features, total price, payment period, renewal arrangements and cancellation method, together with a link to these terms that can be opened and saved.

You must actively confirm acceptance of the terms before payment. You will have an opportunity to identify and correct input errors before submitting the order. OYL will acknowledge receipt electronically without undue delay.

Unless the checkout states otherwise, your order is an offer to purchase the stated service. The paid-service contract is formed when OYL sends acceptance or activates the purchased service, whichever occurs first. An automated acknowledgement of receipt does not by itself mean that OYL has accepted an ineligible application.

You should download or save the terms and order confirmation for your records. OYL will keep an appropriate record of the version accepted and make it available on reasonable request.

19. Fees, invoices and payment

You must pay the price displayed or agreed when ordering, together with any applicable taxes. OYL will disclose the service period and included features before purchase.

Invoices must be paid by the stated due date. OYL may suspend paid features after reasonable notice if an undisputed payment is overdue. You are responsible for accurate billing information and for promptly reporting relevant changes.

Unless expressly agreed otherwise, payment covers only the service and period identified at purchase. Fees for one service cannot be treated as payment for verification, another service or a future period.

20. Automatic renewal and cancellation

Before recurring payment starts, OYL will clearly state:

● the amount payable, including applicable taxes;

● the billing frequency and initial minimum period, if any;

● whether and when the service renews automatically;

● the next payment or renewal date; and

● how to stop renewal.

OYL will give reasonable advance notice of a material price change. The new price will apply only from a future renewal date, and you may cancel before it takes effect.

You may stop future renewal using the cancellation method provided at purchase or by emailing annabelle@ownyrlook.com. Cancellation normally takes effect at the end of the paid period. Your free eligible profile may remain active unless you separately ask for its removal or no longer meet the criteria.

21. Refunds

Because membership services are acquired for professional purposes, statutory consumer cooling-off rights will not normally apply.

Unless required by law or expressly promised in the offer, cancellation does not create a refund for a service period that has already begun. OYL may, however, offer a refund or credit at its discretion without creating an obligation to do so in another case.

If OYL permanently discontinues a prepaid service for reasons unrelated to your conduct or eligibility, OYL will normally provide a proportionate refund for the unused prepaid period.

No refund will normally be made where suspension or removal results from loss of eligibility, inaccurate or withheld information, breach of these terms, a relevant regulatory restriction or sanction, unlawful or misleading content, misuse of OYL branding, non-payment, or failure to cooperate with reasonable checks.

22. OYL badges, logos and descriptions

While your profile is active, OYL may grant limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use an approved badge, logo or membership description. Where reasonably practicable, a digital badge should link to your current OYL profile.

You must not alter the branding, transfer it to another person or practice, use an outdated or unauthorised version, describe OYL as a regulator or accreditation body, imply that OYL guarantees your services, or continue use after your profile is suspended or removed.

Permission ends immediately when membership ends or OYL withdraws permission. You must then remove the relevant branding promptly from websites, profiles and future marketing materials.

23. Patient enquiries and data protection

An enquiry passed through OYL is an introduction only. OYL does not guarantee its accuracy, clinical suitability, the patient’s response or any resulting consultation or treatment.

You must handle enquiries responsibly, confidentially and in accordance with applicable data-protection, medical and marketing rules. When OYL passes an enquiry to you or your practice, you will normally process it as an independent data controller and are responsible for your own lawful basis, privacy information, security, access controls, retention, individual rights and international transfers.

You must use an enquiry only for the purpose for which it was provided unless another use is lawful and transparent. You must not automatically add an enquirer to a marketing list. Notify OYL promptly of a loss, unauthorised access or other security incident involving information received from OYL where it may affect OYL or the individual.

24. Complaints and right of response

OYL may contact you about a factual correction request, patient complaint, regulatory notice, potential breach, misuse of OYL branding or information relevant to continuing eligibility.

OYL is not a medical regulator and does not determine clinical negligence or professional misconduct. Where appropriate and lawful, OYL will explain the substance of a material concern and give you a reasonable opportunity to respond and provide evidence before a final decision is made.

Immediate interim action may be taken where reasonably necessary to address urgent patient-safety, legal, regulatory or accuracy concerns. A temporary suspension is precautionary and does not itself represent a finding of wrongdoing.

You must cooperate honestly and promptly. You must not intimidate, harass or threaten a complainant or seek to prevent lawful reporting. OYL may direct a complainant to an appropriate provider, regulator, complaints body, police service or legal adviser and may disclose information to an appropriate authority where lawful and reasonably necessary.

Complaints and corrections are handled under OYL’s Complaints and Corrections Policy.

25. Amendment, suspension

OYL may amend, restrict, suspend or remove a profile or paid feature where:

● you no longer meet the published criteria;

● registration, specialist status, a licence or required membership expires or is restricted;

● information is materially inaccurate, unsupported or misleading;

● you fail to disclose a material change or provide reasonably requested evidence;

● content breaches applicable law, professional rules or OYL standards;

● OYL branding is misused;

● you materially breach these terms;

● an undisputed payment remains overdue after reasonable notice;

● credible information requires further checks;

● an official regulator imposes a relevant restriction or sanction; or

● action is reasonably necessary to protect users or preserve directory accuracy and integrity.

Where appropriate, OYL will seek your response and consider the available evidence before a final decision. OYL may act without prior notice where delay could create a serious risk, conflict with an official restriction or legal duty, or leave materially misleading information live.

OYL may correct or qualify part of a profile instead of suspending or removing the whole profile where that is proportionate.

26. Ending membership

You may ask OYL to remove your profile at any time by emailing annabelle@ownyrlook.com. Removal does not itself cancel or refund a current paid period unless OYL confirms otherwise.

OYL may end membership or a paid service in accordance with these terms. When membership ends:

● the profile may be unpublished or marked inactive;

● paid and complimentary features end;

● permission to use OYL membership or ambassador branding ends;

● outstanding payment obligations remain due; and

● terms intended to survive termination continue, including provisions concerning intellectual property, confidentiality, records, liability and disputes.

OYL may retain limited verification, membership, payment, complaint and correspondence records where reasonably necessary and lawful.

27. OYL’s service commitments and limitations

OYL will use reasonable care and skill when providing paid services. OYL does not guarantee uninterrupted website availability, a particular directory position, search-engine visibility, traffic, media coverage, enquiries, consultations, bookings, revenue or reputational benefit.

OYL may change, suspend or withdraw website features for security, maintenance, legal, regulatory or operational reasons. Where a change materially reduces a prepaid service, OYL will provide reasonable notice where practicable and an appropriate remedy, which may include a substitute feature, credit, cancellation or a proportionate refund.

28. Responsibility and liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Subject to that qualification, OYL is not responsible for:

● your clinical advice, treatment, acts, omissions, facilities, staff or representatives;

● any agreement or dispute between you and a patient or third party;

● patient outcomes, complications or aftercare;

● information or material supplied by you or your representative;

● independent decisions made by patients;

● third-party websites, platforms, payment services or systems outside OYL’s reasonable control;

● regulatory action or loss caused by your failure to remain eligible or comply with these terms; or

● indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, anticipated savings, goodwill or reputation.

To the extent permitted by law, OYL’s total aggregate liability arising from a particular paid service in any 12-month period will not exceed the total fees you paid OYL for that service during that period. These exclusions and limits apply only so far as they are reasonable and legally enforceable.

You remain responsible for clinical care, professional and regulatory compliance, lawful advertising, third-party rights, patient permissions, and the accuracy of material supplied by you.

If your breach of these terms or unlawful material supplied by you causes OYL to face a third-party claim, regulatory action or reasonable direct cost, you will reimburse OYL for the resulting reasonable and properly evidenced loss to the extent caused by your breach, subject to applicable law and OYL’s duty to mitigate loss.

29. Confidentiality

Each party must protect non-public confidential information received through the membership relationship and use it only for the purpose for which it was provided.

This does not prevent OYL from publishing approved profile material, making fair and accurate corrections, explaining a profile’s status where appropriate, obtaining professional advice, complying with a legal duty or reporting information to an authority where lawful and necessary.

30. Changes to these terms

OYL may update these terms to reflect changes to the directory, membership features, verification requirements, applicable law, professional standards or operating practices.

OYL will give reasonable advance notice of a material change affecting an active paid service where practicable. A material change will apply from the stated effective date and will not retrospectively remove rights already accrued. If a change materially disadvantages you during a prepaid fixed period, you may contact OYL to discuss cancellation and an appropriate proportionate remedy.

31. General terms

These terms, the policies incorporated into them, and any paid-service description accepted by you form the agreement between you and OYL concerning membership and the relevant service.

If there is a conflict, the paid-service description controls only in relation to the specific commercial features, price and service period; these Surgeon Membership Terms control in relation to eligibility, verification, member conduct, suspension and removal.

If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. Failure or delay in enforcing a right does not waive it. You may not transfer membership, a paid service or permission to use OYL branding without written consent.

Neither party will be responsible for delay or failure caused by events beyond its reasonable control, except that this does not excuse payment already due.

32. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising from professional membership or paid business services, subject to any mandatory rule that applies.

Before starting formal proceedings, each party should attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute through written communication.
